Fountain Hills Theater is proud to announce the opening of ‘Sylvia’ by A.R. Gurney, the author of ‘The Cocktail Hour’ and ‘Love Letters’. Greg and Kate have moved to Manhattan after twenty-two years of child-raising in the suburbs. Greg's career as a financial trader is winding down, while Kate's career, as a public-school English teacher, is beginning to offer her more opportunities. Greg brings home a dog he found in the park—or that has found him—bearing only the name "Sylvia" on her name tag. A street-smart mixture of Lab and Poodle, Sylvia becomes a major bone of contention between husband and wife. She offers Greg an escape from the frustrations of his job and the unknowns of middle age. To Kate, Sylvia becomes a rival for affection. And Sylvia thinks Kate just doesn't understand the relationship between man and dog. The marriage is put in serious jeopardy until, after a series of hilarious and touching complications.

Sylvia opened off-Broadway at Stage I of the Manhattan Theatre Club in 1995, and starred Sarah Jessica Parker, Blythe Danner, and Charles Kimbrough. The production received Drama Desk Award nominations for Outstanding Play, Outstanding Actress in a Play (Parker), and Outstanding Costume Design. Sylvia will return to Broadway play in October of 2015, starring Annaleigh Ashford as "Sylvia", Mathew Broderick, Julie White and Robert Sella, directed by Daniel J. Sullivan.

Sylvia is produced by Stephani McDonald and directed by Ben Tyler. Sylvia stars Dyana Carroll as Kate, Michael Corbett as Tom/Phyliss/Leslie, Tom Koelbel as Greg, and Emily Mohney as Sylvia. Sylvia is produced through special arrangement with Dramatist Play Service. Sylvia will play Aug 21-30, 2015. Advisory:Adult language. Performances are Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8PM and Sundays at 2PM. Individual tickets are $23.00 for Adults and $18.00 for youth 17 and under.
