DENVER – In keeping with the Administration’s goal of strengthening America’s energy independence, the Bureau of Land Management will offer 10 parcels totaling 1,122 acres in Royal Gorge Field Office and the U.S. Forest Service’s Pawnee National Grassland at its September quarterly oil and gas lease sale. The BLM will hold the lease sale online via http://www.energynet.com.
Bidding will begin at 9 a.m. Mountain Daylight Time. The BLM will offer two parcels in Cheyenne County, one in Baca County, two in Kiowa County, one in Yuma County, two in Morgan County and two in Weld County. Of the two in Weld County, one parcel is in the Pawnee National Grassland.

The state of Colorado receives 49 percent of the proceeds of each lease sale. In Fiscal Year 2016, BLM Colorado received more than $98 million from royalties, rentals and bonus bid payments for oil and gas. Statewide, more than 22,900 jobs are tied to mineral and energy development on BLM-managed public lands.
Online oil and gas lease sales streamline the bidding process and allow the BLM to serve the public better and faster. These lease sales strengthen domestic energy production and contribute to the country’s energy independence.
