Did you know that your home plays a significant role in your health? Home accidents kill one person every 16 minutes and injure one person every four seconds in the United States. Dust and contaminates, property maintenance, water issues, pests and more can affect the well-being of you and your family.

As part of Neighborhood College, the city’s Neighborhood Services Department is hosting a “Is Your House Healthy and Energy Efficient?” workshop from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 6, at the Washington Activity Center, 2240 W. Citrus Way (east of I-17 and north of Bethany Home Road). Participants will learn simple ways to help make their homes healthier and more energy efficient, including the Seven Principles of a Healthy Home, sustainability practices and weatherization. Energy-efficient giveaways, such as CFL light bulbs, will be available.
