Richard Bruce Cheney, Vice President under President George W. Bush, passed away on November 3, 2025.
In November 1962, at the age of 21, Cheney was convicted of driving while intoxicated (DWI) and was arrested for DWI again in 1963. Citing his concern over budget deficits and expansion of the federal government, Cheney voted against the creation of the U.S. Department of Education.
Cheney served as Secretary of Defense from March 1989 to January 1993.
Cheney used his Wyoming home to host a private fundraiser for Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney in July 2012.
Cheney had a long history of cardiovascular disease and for almost 20 years, smoked approximately three packs of cigarettes per day.
According to reports, Cheney died on November 3, 2025, at age 84 and had been experiencing complications related to pneumonia and vascular disease.
