Two people are facing drug charges in Mercer County after an investigation into illegal drug operations in Aledo.
A news release from the City of Aledo says the Quad Cities Metropolitan Enforcement Group (MEG) and the Aledo Police Department had been investigating an alleged illicit drug operation in Aledo. They collected enough evidence during the investigation to obtain a search warrant for a residence in Aledo. While searching the residence, officers found a package that contained 250 grams of methamphetamine and 15 MDMA pills.
As a result of the investigation, Emily Colson, 32 of Aledo, was taken into custody and charged with possession with intent to deliver 100-400 grams of methamphetamine, a class X felony, and possession of methamphetamine, a class X felony.
Officers determined that a second person was involved in the operation. Daniel Rice, 45 of Muscatine, was taken into custody and charged with methamphetamine trafficking (Class X Felony). Rice is currently being held at the Muscatine County Jail. Colson has a preliminary hearing on October 20 in Mercer County Court and Rice has a hearing in Muscatine County Court on October 24. The Mercer County Sheriff’s Office, United States Postal Inspection Service and Muscatine Police assisted with the investigation.
