In times of need, help arrives from those who seem least likely to give it. In the face of their own war-torn and ravaged country, a group of Iraqi soldiers found it within their hearts to give to those affected by a "horrible disaster." Not long ago, I listened to Ben Stein on CBS News Sunday Morning as he offered his view on Cindy Sheehan and the war in Iraq. Although he felt the loss of Sheehan's son Casey was "totally understandable," he felt there were other considerations. Stein pointed out that Sheehan was quoted as saying "George Bush killed son," which Stein felt was analogous to saying FDR killed the hundreds of thousands who were killed by the Nazis in World War II." Sheehan said she wanted to honor her son by withdrawing from Iraq," to which Mr. Stein responded, "with respect, I question whether she honors her son's memory by that demand. To surrender the brave Iraqi people her son fought and died to liberate, to the murderers who kill and behead the innocent, is not an act of decency. "Ms. Sheehan and her pals at moveon.org, say that the mission her son died for is worthless. That's a grave insult to those men and women who are bravely fighting this war and doing much more good than the media lets on. Please, no more Vietnam where the sacrifice of the men in the field is betrayed by the newsmakers at home. . Her son... offered up his life for liberty . . and the roughly million and a half other men and women who wear the uniform and fight their country's fights... these are the real stars... It is tragic that any of them have to die, but they live and die as the shining lights of this troubled world. God bless them. They are better than we deserve." Until next issue ...take care.
