The summer heat is waning and that's a good thing. Instead of triple digits, we're now seeing some double digit temperatures. They laugh at us back east when we tell them it's "cooling down into the 90's." My reply is always the same, "I'll take 105 with eight or ten percent humidity any day over 80 with ninety or one hundred percent humidity."
The last hurray of the summer season is just a couple short weeks away. Labor Day, Memorial Day and the Fourth of July all bring a surge in traffic and visitors to the Roosevelt area. Winter visitors will soon be making plans to return to this land of paradise. In the meantime, locals and visitors alike can dance the night away to the music of Extasy at Roosevelt Lake Resort on Saturday, September 3.
Many of you have probably already noticed that there is a website address on the front page of this edition. Yes, it's finally here, however, it is still a work in progress. I don't expect it to be finished until closer to the end of September. What is it they say about the best laid plans? The good news is that visitors to the site will have a chance to look through all it currently has to offer and should check back frequently for updates. I'm excited about having the opportunity to update folks on a daily basis with breaking news, current real estate offerings, happenings around Roosevelt Lake (the latest fishing reports) and a slew of other information. Readers will also be able to subscribe to this publication online via PayPal and send their comments directly to me. More photos and many more articles from past issues will be added over the next several months. Check it out for yourself and let me know what you think. Until next issue . . . take care.
