February Tidbits

Superbowl Sunday is this coming weekend with a match up between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Seattle Seahawks. I last heard the Steelers were favored by 4. It should be an interesting game (we don't want a lopsided victory - close games are much more enjoyable to watch). Speaking of lopsided, as of this writing, we're still waiting for rain in the deserts and snow in the high country. Records are being broken and shattered across the state. Portland, Oregon, by comparison, is receiving record amounts of precipitation. Too bad we can't do a tradeoff! We'll gladly take some of their rain in exchange for warm sunny weather. The war on illegal immigration wages on with new legislation introduced in the Arizona Senate. According to our feature article, the "wide area intrusion detection system is a combination of radar and cameras that provides 360 degree scanning potential" and it "is estimated that one permanent ground based radar system will provide coverage of approximately 6 miles of border and 60 square miles of area." It will be interesting to see where legislators take this bill. Happy Birthday to Judy Leach on Monday, February 6. Does this mean you have your birthday off for a change? Last, but certainly not least, we would like, from the bottom of our hearts, to dedicate this issue to Carl Wilson, friend, neighbor, and all-around good guy. Your courage and strength in the face of adversity is an inspiration to all of us. Our hearts and prayers are with you, your beautiful wife Nancy and your family. May the grace of God shine on you now and forever. We love you always! Until next issue . . . hug a loved one and take care.
