This issue features a front page article about local Globe resident Joe Pusso" Perez, who was presented with the Purple Heart thirty-nine years after actually enduring his wounds at the Tet Offensive.
Thanks to the efforts of Father Rosales (and a few prayers, I'm sure) and Congressman Rick Renzi, Mr. Perez was finally presented with the medal he earned so many years ago.
In addition to the Purple Heart, Mr. Perez, a modest man, received numerous other medals. We were honored to be a part of the presentation at the American Legion this past Saturday.
What a weekend! It actually began on Thursday night as we headed out to Florence, Arizona for a weekend of Country Thunder.
Country western fans were treated to four days of foot stompin' hand clappin' music. Like many of you, we've been hearing about the "Big Event" for a number of years, and aside from losing a transmission, we were not disappointed with the weekend.
This issue offers readers a glimpse into the energy that happens each and every year at Country Thunder. Even Mother Nature decided to participate in the show with her own injection of lightning and thunder on Friday evening when the clouds opened up and the rain came down. However, even that did not dampen the spirits of Jo Dee Messina and Trace Adkins, who both played to fans amidst the downpour.
We hope you enjoy our feature articles and the many others this issue has to offer. Until the next one, take care.
