Tonto Basin Marketplace Slated for Easter Weekend Opening

Tonto Basin is about to become the recipient of a long overdue grocery store. The nearly 17,000 square foot Tonto Basin Marketplace includes all the amenities found in large city grocery stores.
The full-service meat department, headed by local resident, Jerry Laska, a butcher with 35 years experience in the meat business, will cater to the customer with chipped, thin- or sandwich-sliced meats, homemade pork sausage and brats, freshly ground hamburg, turkey, chicken, steaks, including filet mignon, NY Strips, Porterhouse and T-bones, "cut the way you want it," said Tommy Canyon, store manager. Tommy and his wife Julie will run the day-to-day operations of the store and want customers to feel welcome. He added "if you don't see items you would like us to carry, please ask."
General Manager J.C. Chambers added that pharmacy and banking services would be added to the location.
The store deli will feature fresh sandwiches, fried and rotisserie chicken, ribs, burritos, cheeses sliced to your preference, and quick to-go items.
In addition to a variety of wines, and a full liquor department, Tonto Basin Marketplace also has a 24-hour gas station that accepts debit and credit cards at each of its 6 pump stations for regular, mid-grade, premium and diesel gas, and an auto parts section that will carry oil, brake and power-steering fluids, spark plugs, batteries, boat supplies, and some tools.
A customer service counter has been set up at the front of the store to answer questions and offer assistance.
Five state-of-the-art computerized scanners have been added for quick and easy checkout. A wide range of grocery items are offered and include styrofoam ice chests, propane bottles, lawn chairs, cold beer and wine, BBQ supplies.
The store will be open seven days a week from 6:00 am until 9:00 pm during the summer months. Winter hours will change slightly.
