Tucson, Ariz. Border Patrol Agents assigned to the Tucson Sector seized more than nine thousand pounds of marijuana in multiple seizures across the sector. The seizures occurred from Friday to Monday morning. The largest of the seizures was 2,987 pounds found in two stolen vehicles near the village of Santa Cruz on the Tohono OOdham Nation on Monday morning. The vehicles were initially spotted driving northbound on Federal Route 21 without their lights on at 2:30 a.m. Agents followed the tire sign of the vehicles as they traveled off-road and found both vehicles abandoned with multiple bundles of marijuana. The second large seizure occurred on Nov. 10 at 8:43 a.m. Agents assigned to the Casa Grande Station attempted to make a vehicle stop on a vehicle heading northbound on Federal Route 19. The vehicle turned southbound, and after multiple attempts to stop the vehicle with Controlled Tire Deflation Devices, the vehicle collided with a fence post along the border. When the agents approached the vehicle, they observed multiple bundles of marijuana, that when weighed later, weighed 651.50 pounds. The total weight of the marijuana seized over the four day period was 9,121 pounds with an estimated street value of over $7 million.
