Renzi Will Nominate Rural Arizona's Best and Brightest to Serve America WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Rick Renzi (AZ -1) has announced that he is beginning the nomination process for America's military academies. Congressman Renzi will nominate rural Arizona's best and brightest to the United States Military Academy at West Point (Army), the United States Naval Academy (Navy and Marines), the United States Air Force Academy and the United States Merchant Marine Academy. Congressman Renzi does not make nominations to the United States Coast Guard Academy because students must apply directly. Individuals interested in being nominated for placement in a military academy must contact Jack Latham with Congressman Renzi's staff at 928-537-2800 or can log on to Congressman Renzi's website at (www.house.gov/renzi). The application deadline is October 31, 2006. SPECIAL NOTE - All applicants need to contact their desired academy or academies and open a candidate file. This allows the Academies to start their tracking process immediately. Applicants may open files at more than one academy. Congressman Renzi's office only nominates qualified applicants while it is up to the Military Academies to offer an appointment (a nomination does not guarantee an appointment).
