Funds Will Help Improve Fire Department's Response Capabilities
WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Rep. Rick Renzi (AZ-01) announced today that the Sun Valley Volunteer Fire Department will receive $102,980 in federal funds to enhance the fire department's ability to respond to fires and fire related hazards. The grant was awarded by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security under the Assistance to Firefighters Grants.
"I am delighted to announce that the Sun Valley Fire Department will receive this grant to enhance their ability to respond to emergencies," said Congressman Renzi. "These volunteer firefighters risk their lives to protect our communities, and it is essential they have the tools necessary to keep them safe in the line of duty."
"As Chief, I would like to thank Congressman Renzi's Office and the Department of Homeland Security for providing the funds to enhance the protection of our responders," said Fire Chief Jeff Lineberry. "These grants prove the federal government's commitment to the rural first responder organizations."
The department plans to use this money to purchase personal protective equipment and other firefighting equipment. This grant is a part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's efforts to strengthen the Nation's overall level of preparedness and ability to respond to fire related hazards.
