Man Wanted For Attempted Murder Caught at Douglas Port

DOUGLAS, AZ - U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Officers at the Douglas Port of Entry caught a man wanted in Cochise County on charges of Attempted 1st Degree murder on December 26, 2005. At around 9:20 PM, 41-year-old Esgard Ysea was caught as he tried to drive into the United States. CBP officers questioning Ysea recognized him as being wanted by Cochise County. They immediate detained him, confirmed the warrant, and held him until officers with the Douglas Police Department arrived at the port to take custody. Ysea has previous convictions for murder and has served time as an inmate with the Arizona Department of Corrections. Officers also apprehended a man wanted in Maricopa county on charges of aggravated assault and probation violation on the afternoon of December 26. 52-year-old Romaine Heath was taken into custody after being escorted to the port by Mexican authorities. When CBP officers queried his name, they discovered the warrant. He was held at the port until officers from the Douglas Police Department arrived to take custody. On the day before Christmas, CBP officers at the Douglas port of entry also stopped a husband and wife from Chihuahua from smuggling more than 127 pounds of marijuana into the country when they found 86 packages hidden inside compartments built into a 1994 GMC Sierra pickup. Both people were arrested.
