Agent-s Selfless Act Uncovers Contraband

Tucson, Arizona A Tucson Sector agent deployed near Douglas, Ariz., was patrolling his assigned area when he saw smoke coming from a nearby home. In his attempt to put out a fire inside the garage the agent came across eight bundles of marijuana. At approximately 10:30 a.m. on September 9, an agent patrolling on the west side of the city of Douglas noticed smoke coming out of a residential home. When the agent investigated the source of the smoke, he discovered a fire in the garage. The agent attempted to secure the house to ensure the safety of anyone inside. An off duty Arizona Department of Corrections officers also arrived to assist the agent. As they both attempted to extinguish the fire they discovered eight bundles of marijuana. Traces of marijuana also led officers to a vehicle parked in the garage containing several bundles of marijuana, totaling approximately 300 pounds. The Cochise County Sheriffs Border Alliance Task Force arrived and assumed responsibility of the investigation and the narcotics. Two suspects were detained in relation to the narcotics, a male and a female, who will be charged with Possession and Transportation of Marijuana.
