Del Rio, Texas - U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers in Eagle Pass arrested a Houston woman Monday after finding more than half a million dollars worth of narcotics in her vehicle.
Monday morning, CBP officers at Eagle Pass Bridge I inspected a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado pickup, driven by a 22-year-old Houston woman, as it arrived in the United States from Mexico. Following a preliminary inspection, officers referred the pickup for intensive examination, using a non-intrusive imaging system. Electronic scans of the vehicle revealed anomalies that led officers to discover four black tape-wrapped bundles. Three of the bundles contained cocaine, weighing a total of 14.124 pounds, while the fourth held 3.696 pounds of methamphetamine. The cocaine and methamphetamine were valued at $451,968 and $55,440, respectively.
The narcotics and driver were turned over to Homeland Security Investigations.
