Officials Assessing Damages from Flooding; Water Donations Sought

As the waters are receding, officials are assessing the damages caused when excessive rain triggered flash flooding and greatly impacted the Havasupai Tribe.

Bottled water is being sought for those affected by the flash flood. To donate, please go to the Aidmatrix portal and follow the instructions, especially the contact information.
The Aidmatrix Network is a national disaster relief coordination system funded by FEMA, The UPS Foundation, Accenture, and the Aidmatrix Foundation, Inc. to better manage unsolicited donations and volunteers.

Background
The American Red Cross Grand Canyon Chapter has closed the shelter at the Hualapai tribal gym on Wednesday, August 20 at 10:30 a.m.. Red Cross volunteers were on the scene providing support and a safe place for people impacted by the Supai Canyon flood since last weekend.
The Coconino County Sheriffs Office announced that the 11 individuals previously reported missing in the Supai Canyon flood area have been located and all are safe. As a precaution, Sheriffs Office officials are currently cross-checking information with those who were evacuated with those who left the area through the exit checkpoint over the past few days.
As of Tuesday, approximately 426 people have been evacuated by helicopter from the canyon. Currently, no fatalities or serious injuries resulting from this incident have been reported to the Sheriffs Office. Some residents of the Supai Village chose not to be evacuated and remained in the canyon.

S. Forest Service, Coconino County Community Emergency Response Teams, Mohave County Sheriffs Office, and Coconino County Search and Rescue.
