Ton of Marijuana Seized from RV

Courtesy photo Calexico, Calif. - U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Calexico downtown port of entry intercepted 2,109 pounds of marijuana worth more than $1.2 million. The enforcement action occurred at about 1 a.m., when a white 2001 Ford Tioga motor home with California license plates was escorted to the secondary examination area after a detector dog alerted to the vehicle during the primary inspection. During the secondary examination, further inspection of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of 168 wrapped packages of marijuana concealed within the roof of the vehicle. The total weight of the narcotics is 2,109 pounds with a street value of $1,265,775. The driver, a 48-year-old male U.S. citizen and Calexico resident, was arrested for the alleged narcotic smuggling attempt. Both the narcotic and vehicle were seized by CBP.
