District One is NOT for Sale

Editor: The Washington, DC elites are making it clear that they believe the District One seat in Arizona can be bought. Nearly 2 million dollars has been earmarked to come into this district to buy this seat. It ought to make you angry for one very important reason. If you, a friend or family member has a job that is directly or indirectly dependent upon our natural resources, then you deserve to be angry at the liberals in Washington, DC because in their attempts to buy this seat, they are attacking your job. This comes as no surprise, since they have been waging war against the West and against mining, ranching, agriculture, timber, and energy independence for years. But, this is no ordinary Congressional seat. This is a natural resources district. If they can capture this seat, they will have struck a deep blow against natural resources jobs all throughout the West. The same folks who have made us dependent upon foreign sources for our energy, will make us dependent upon foreign sources for our strategic minerals, our forest products, even our food supply if we let them. That is the real message behind one of the latest television attack ads you may have seen. The ad may be leveled against me, but it is really an attack against you. Or you may have seen the press release from my liberal opponents supporters that referred to our mining companies as law breakers and by inference, you and me and all of us engaged in copper mining or other resources industries. Throughout my career and through my small business, I have fought hard against liberal government and for taxpayers, for parents rights, small businesses and our natural resource jobs. Ive defended us against out-of-control government. Ive testified in Congress against IRS abuses of small business. I fought the Forest Service and won when they shut down one of our shooting ranges. And, yes, I have sued the EPA when they were wrong. I think we need to elect a fighter to Congress, not a go-along-to-get-along politician. For this, liberals in Washington are sponsoring television ads trying to make me into a corporate lobbyist who covers up for toxic polluters. My grandchildren woke up to this ad prior to school the other morning. My middle grandchild called me and asked me, Where are you hiding all that toxic waste, grandma? In the laundry room? Then he laughed at his joke. He gets it. He knows the ad is ridiculous. It would be funny if it werent so serious. Unfortunately, this is a harbinger of more attacks to come in the liberals quest to own and control Congressional District One, and destroy the natural resource-based economy of so many of our towns in the process. If I am to be labeled a polluter because I work for natural resource jobs, so be it. If I am to be called a lobbyist because I defend our jobs that feed our families, so be it. But I believe the voters of the First District will reject the slanderous campaign being waged by my opponent. So, I hope you will remember, when they call me a toxic polluter for my work for natural resources jobs, they are saying the same thing about you. When they turn the good work Ive done advocating for the conservative principles you and I believe in into the epithet, corporate lobbyist, what they are really doing is attacking me, for fighting for you. They dont like fighters like me. But, rather than fewer, we need more fighters in Congress. These attack ads, and those to come, are another reason why I am not just running for Congress, Im running against Congress and against Washington elitists. Your choice is simple. A hard-working, proven defender of our conservative values with a record of accomplishment for Arizona, or a liberal lawyer who, by not denouncing these ads being run on her behalf, has demonstrated her hostility to the jobs and the economy of our district. The choice is yours. I sincerely hope that my years of working with you and for you have earned your support. Most sincerely, /s/ Sydney Hay
