PHOENIX -- The Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation and Arizona Public Services (APS) have announced that fans can vote on the name of the newest "Diamonds Back" youth baseball facility. The "Diamonds Back" Field Building Program is currently constructing a $300,000 youth baseball facility located in the Estrella community of Goodyear. The facility will be dedicated in the name of D-backs fans, at the request of a player who donated $50,000 and wishes to remain anonymous. The D-backs are seeking the input of fans to help in voting for and selecting the name of this field. Fans can log on to dbacks.com/community until July 6 to vote for one of the following names: D-backs Family Field, D-backs Fan Field, D-votion Field, or "For the Fans" Field. The team will unveil the winner in mid-July. A dedication ceremony is set for Aug. 6. Since 2000, the Diamondbacks Foundation has built or refurbished 26 baseball fields as part of the "Diamonds Back" Field Building Program. With the aid of the "Diamonds Back" corporate sponsor, APS, local businesses, and monetary donations from individual players, this program has allowed children from across the state to play baseball and softball at quality facilities. This particular complex will be used by Estrella Youth Sports, Estrella Mountain Elementary School and Goodyear Little League. The fields generally feature new lights, fencing and backstops, irrigation, dirtwork, grass and an electronic scoreboard. The locations of the fields are determined through a grant process. About the Diamondbacks Foundation: Established in 1997, the Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation focuses its efforts on three main areas of need: homelessness, indigent health care, and children's programs of all types, including education and youth baseball field development. Through fundraising activities, the team's charitable arm has donated more than $13.5 million to the Arizona community. The cornerstone of giving for the foundation is the "Diamonds Back" Field Building Program, which has built or refurbished 26 youth baseball fields in Arizona since 2000.
