Project Management Training Scholarships for Laid-Off Workers

Phoenix Workforce Connection is seeking applications from laid-off workers to receive one of 25 scholarships for project management certification. The scholarships, funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, will cover the cost of the project management education from approved training providers, exam fees and application assistance. In today's labor market, a Project Management Professional certification is highly sought after by employers, said Cynthia Spell Tweh, deputy director, Community and Economic Development Department. Certifications like this recognize qualified individuals and help get them back into the workforce. Some of the eligibility requirements include: * Laid off in the last 24 months and still unemployed * Unable to find employment in current occupation * Have project management experience required for certification The first 50 approved candidates will be contacted and invited to an information session held on Aug. 30.
