
El Paso, TX Border Patrol Agents throughout the sector seize over $1 million of narcotics in 10 separate events. Agents spanning from Ysleta, Texas to Lordsburg, New Mexico seize nearly 1300 lbs of marijuana and nab several smugglers in the process.
Lordsburg, NM On Saturday night, Border Patrol Agents assigned to the Lordsburg Station utilized the latest enforcement technology to observe seven individuals walking south of Separ, New Mexico. As agents responded to the area, they came upon seven individuals who were carrying several burlap backpacks full of narcotics. The total weight of marijuana was approximately 320 pounds, and valued at more than $256,000. This seizure was followed by two other incidents involving eight smugglers trying to smuggle 390 pounds of marijuana in the same vicinity. The value of that load is approximately $310,000.

Ysleta, TX- Agents from the Ysleta Station were also busy intercepting drug loads in their respective areas. Agents at the HWY 62/180 checkpoint in Desert Haven, TX discovered a 1993 Pontiac Trans Am loaded with narcotics. Agents observed the vehicle with two passengers approach the primary inspection area and proceeded to question them. The vehicle was then referred to a secondary inspection, where a non-intrusive search by a canine unit alerted to the presence of narcotics. The K-9 alerted to the side passenger door where a subsequent search revealed 50 small packages of marijuana with a combined weight of approximately 50 pounds. The contraband, with an estimated value of $40,000, was discovered inside the panels of the car.
Agents from the El Paso Sector were able to seize approximately 1300 pounds of marijuana with a value of $1,002,000 in a three-day period. These most recent criminal interdictions exemplify CBP/Border Patrols continued commitment to keep illicit contraband and criminal activity out of our communities in an ongoing effort to secure our nations borders.
