North Carolina Homicide Suspect Captured by the Arizona Highway Patrol in Southern Arizona

On Monday, Jan. 28, North Carolina homicide suspect Chris Huffman was arrested by the Arizona Highway Patrol. Huffman was wanted for a homicide early Friday morning in a south-Charlotte neighborhood. Huffman is accused of shooting an acquaintance several times at the victims home in Charlotte. Huffman was traveling westbound on Interstate 10 near Casa Grande when a Highway Patrol officer noticed Huffmans vehicle. Huffmans vehicle was traveling slower than the rest of traffic and would not pass the officer. Eventually the officer was able to get behind Huffman and confirmed that the vehicle was wanted in connection to a homicide in North Carolina. After numerous other police agencies responded to assist with the stop, Huffman stopped on his own accord and surrendered to the Arizona Highway Patrol. A stolen handgun was also found inside the vehicle. Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department are due to arrive in Arizona to interview Huffman and process the vehicle.
