Residents also may bring their Christmas trees to A to Z Equipment Rentals and Sales, 4050 E. Indian School Road or 15634 N. 32nd St., who will accept trees at no charge from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26 through Saturday, Jan. 5, except on Monday, Dec. 31, when trees will be accepted from 9 a.m. to noon. The stores will be closed on Sunday, Dec. 30.

Transfer stations also are an option for Christmas tree recycling. Both locations (30205 N. Black Canyon Highway and 3060 S. 27th Ave.) will accept trees from 5:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays, 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays and 6 a.m. to noon on New Years Eve. Residents should be advised that transfer stations are closed on Sundays and New Years Day.

Please remember that trees should be cleared of any decorations including tinsel and tree stands and other hardware should also be removed before recycling. Public Works also asks that residents take care to safely secure trees during transport and that trees only be left in the designated drop-off areas.

Residents also are able to donate living container-grown trees for replanting in city parks. Parks will only accept 15 gallon-sized or 24" box-sized trees. They can be delivered to a nearby maintenance facility to be planted in a local park. The trees need to be one of the four following species: Aleppo pine (Pinus halepensis), Eldrica pine or Goldwater pine (Pinus eldarica), Canary Island pine (Pinus canariensis) or Chir pine (Pinus roxburghii). For more information about donating a living tree, call 602-534-9440.
