TUCSON, Arizona – U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested two previously deported sex offenders near Sasabe and Amado, Arizona, Tuesday.

Around 4 a.m., agents patrolling the desert near Sasabe apprehended 29-year-old Ernesto Maldonado Alvarado. Records checks revealed Maldonado Alvarado has an extensive criminal history, including a conviction in Santa Clara County, California, for Sex with a Minor in 2014 and again in 2017. He received a sentence of 364 days in jail and three years probation for the first offense and two years imprisonment for the second.

Lopez-Rosales and Maldonado Alvarado, both Mexican nationals illegally present in the United States, face federal prosecution for criminal immigration violations.

U.S. Border Patrol has apprehended 1,294 criminal aliens from October 1, 2019 through February 2020.

All persons apprehended by the U.S. Border Patrol undergo criminal history checks using biometrics to ensure illegal aliens with criminal histories are positively identified.   back...
