I can't believe it's June already and we're nearly half way through the year. (I think I say this every year around this same time).

The big Memorial Day weekend is over and we now head into the hot days of summer. If the weathermen are right (and that can be a big if), we're in for a cooling trend later this week - really - it's dropping down into the 90's. That's big news for the month of June.

Speaking of big news, both the feature articles on the front page fall into that category.

A major threat to U.S. soil was averted, again, as four defendants allegedly "conspired to destroy buildings, fuel tanks, and fuel pipelines at JFK airport with explosives."

The operational stage was never reached, thanks to the vigilance of law enforcement.

On another bright side, Jake's Corner has been the set for a movie, directed by Jeff Santos of This Old Cub fame.

Many of you may remember the article we ran a few years ago detailing Bill Holden's walk from Prescott, Arizona to Chicago's Wrigley Field in an effort to raise money and awareness for juvenile diabetes.

Jeff decided to visit Jake's Corner at that time and liked it so well, he came back to make his movie. This story certainly has all the potential of becoming a blockbuster hit!

I'd like to take this opportunity to personally thank Tim Comstock, co-producer, who made it possible to do the interviews for the article.

Tim produced and co-wrote This Old Cub, "which has proven to be one of the most financially successful documentaries in the last 30 years." If This Old Cub is any indication, Jake's Corner is headed for the top of the charts! See you at the movies!!   back...
