During the extra week between the last issue and this one, my husband and I enjoyed some down time with a brief respite back east where daytime temps averaged in the mid 70's (If I could have bottled that weather, rest assured, I would have brought it back).

During this short vacation, we had the opportunity to go out from Boston Harbor on a whale-watching excursion. We were lucky enough to watch not only two humpbacks "fin slapping," but one who "breached" (jumping clear out of the water) somewhere between seven and nine times. Regardless of whether you visit the east or west coast, if someone offers you the chance to whale watch, take it. They are magnificent and worth every minute of the trip.

Upon returning to Phoenix and temperatures averaging around 110, I was fortunate enough to have another exciting day as I rode along with some of Arizona's finest U.S. Marshals during this year's Operation Falcon RoundUp.

They cleared 371 warrants and arrested 340 fugitives. I was impressed, to say the least, at their professionalism, focus (they never know what they're walking into to when they approach a home) and humor. These are great guys without overblown egos whose satisfaction is getting the job done. At the end of the day, they leave the glory-mongering to others. Look for more on this agency in an upcoming issue.
