The Super Bowl was played this past Sunday and although our Cardinals did not bring home the Lombardi trophy, they certainly made Arizona fans proud.

The Steelers came out and scored the first touchdown and kept us on the edge of our seats just before the half with the interception in the red zone.

The Cards came back after the half with renewed energy, looking like the NFC champions we remembered when they defeated the Philadelphia Eagles. They seemed to finally find their rhythm as they began to gather momentum in the second half. Larry Fitzgerald appeared to fly down the field, with a touchdown that gave the Cardinals a one-point lead.

Those last three minutes or so had all of us going from sheer delight as we screamed, high-fived, and for a brief instant, thought the underdog-rated team pulled it off, to this cant be. Yet, many communicated the same emotion, even if worded differently. Thanks for a great season. Although disappointed, we are so proud. The Arizona Cardinals have absolutely nothing to be ashamed of. They played their hearts out, and yes, they did get some bad calls.

On the bright side, another season of football will be here before we know it and the Arizona Cardinals will have another chance at the opportunity to claim that much-sought-after trophy.

In the meantime, I dont think anybody will look at the Arizona Cardinals in the same light ever again.

In the sports world, the FBR was played this past weekend, and brought in some dollars to Arizonas economy.

Speaking of the economy, were all anxiously watching and waiting for signs of a turnaround.

Baseball season is just around the corner. March is the month for spring training and it wont be long before teams begin vying for a chance to play in the world series.

One of our feature articles focuses on the Redoubt volcano in Alaska. According to the experts, its not a matter of if, its a matter of when.

As someone with family in the area, we naturally have concerns as to how far ash will spew when Mount Redoubt erupts.

Alaska also recently experienced a 5.8 earthquake. I remember hearing of the one in the Washington/Oregon area, but was unaware of the Alaska quake until my brother-in-law in Kenai mentioned it.

We will continue to bring you updates on the status of the eruptions. You can also check the website for information.
