CALL TO ACTION: Vessels planning to be in the area should execute avoidance plans.
KEY MESSAGES:
● Low pressure will move off of the Carolina coast Saturday, with the low intensifying as it continues to move northeast and farther off of the East Coast Saturday night.
● By early Sunday morning, areas of storm-force sustained winds are expected well offshore of the New Jersey and southern New England coasts, especially toward
39N67W.
● Wind gusts to hurricane force are likely close to the low pressure center Sunday as the low continues to move northeast. The low is forecast to be centered just south of Nova Scotia Sunday afternoon.
● There is a small chance of hurricane-force sustained winds Sunday just south of Georges Bank well offshore of the East Coast.
● Seas should increase to 15 to 20 feet in and near the areas of storm-force sustained winds Sunday morning.
● Mariners should monitor later forecasts, being ready to practice avoidance along and near the track of the low.
