Flat Fire Daily Update for Saturday, June 27, 2026
Location of Origin: 9 miles southwest of Heber, AZ Start Date: June 20, 2026 Size: 134 acres Percent Contained: 81% Cause: Lightning, Natural Fuels: Medium logging slash Resources Assigned: 7 engines, 2 type 3 helicopters, 2 type 1 helicopters, 2 dozers, 4 hand crews, and 2 water tenders. There are currently 192 personnel on the fire. Operations: Firefighters continue making steady progress on the Flat Fire as full suppression efforts remain in place. Crews are focused on securing the fire perimeter, extinguishing remaining hot spots, and conducting mop-up operations to reduce the potential for future fire spread. Fire activity remains minimal with isolated smoldering and creeping. Firefighters continue reinforcing containment lines as work progresses toward full containment. Suppression repair will start on exterior dozer lines. Closures: Where the Flat Fire is closest to the proximity of the 300 Road, a soft closure remains in place to provide for the safety of the public and firefighters. Roads leading into the fire area from the 300 road have signs posted to keep visitors out for potential fire danger associated with the Flat Fire. Values at Risk: Cultural sites and heritage resources, tribal sensitive species, cattle and grazing, watersheds and riparian areas, woodland areas, and natural springs. Weather: A Red Flag Warning remains in effect through 8:00 p.m. Sunday. Southwest winds of 15-25 mph with gusts up to 40-45 mph may create interior flare-ups and increase spotting potential within the fire area. Crews will continue monitoring conditions closely. Smoke: Smoke productions has continued to diminish, though residents may still continue to notice smoke from this incident and other nearby wildfires, including the Sycamore Fire and Hellsgate Fire on the Tonto National Forest. Residents and visitors are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the restrictions and use extra caution to help prevent new wildfire starts. Evacuations: There are no evacuation orders associated with the Flat Fire. Residents are always encouraged to be in “READY” status regardless of if there are wildfires in your area or not.
