PHOENIX – On September 24, 2019, Chairman Bob Burns and Commissioner Justin Olson docketed a letter informing everyone that their two offices would be collaborating on drafting retail electric competition rules. On February 10, 2020, the two Commissioners docketed not one, but two drafts of possible rules.

They are hoping that interested parties will file comments on the two proposals prior to the Commission’s retail electric competition workshop. If comments can be filed prior to the workshop, that will lead to a more robust and fruitful discussion of the draft rules.

Along with discussing the two draft rule proposals, there will also be a discussion of staff’s research on retail electric competition rules in other states. Stakeholders will present their views on the matter and the public is encouraged to participate and provide their input on the recently proposed draft rules.

The workshop will be held Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at 10 a.m. and Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at 10 a.m. in Hearing Room 1 at the Corporation Commission’s Phoenix office, 1200 W. Washington St., Phoenix, AZ 85007.

Stakeholders wishing to provide a presentation at the workshop will need to send their presentations to Phillip Metzger at pmetzger@azcc.gov no later than Thursday, February 20, 2020 by 5 p.m.
