LAREDO, Texas – Laredo Sector Border Patrol agents on Wednesday evening discovered 31 individuals in a smuggling attempt at the immigration checkpoint on Interstate Highway 35 north of Laredo, Texas.

The incident occurred on July 17, when agents encountered a white tractor-trailer in the primary inspection lane. While at the primary lane, a Border Patrol canine alerted to the odor of concealed narcotics and/or humans in the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle granted consent to a non-intrusive VACIS scan of the vehicle.

SALTON CITY, Calif. – El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents working at the Highway 86 immigration checkpoint arrested a woman suspected of smuggling methamphetamine on Friday morning.

The incident occurred at approximately 9:10 a.m., when a 47-year-old woman driving a white Honda Pilot approached the checkpoint. A Border Patrol canine detection team alerted to the vehicle. Agents sent the vehicle to secondary inspection for further investigation.

JOINT BASE ANACOSTIA-BOLLING, D.C. — Scott A. Wirtz, a Defense Intelligence Agency civilian, was killed during a terrorist attack in Manbij, Syria, Jan. 16.

When DIA sent out the press release identifying the former Navy SEAL, the photo that accompanied it wasn’t a run-of-the-mill portrait or a generic grip-and-grin shot. No, it was an image of a 42-year-old badass and his dog.

Each time a news agency covered Wirtz’s death, they inevitably used the same photo – a bearded warrior, smiling as he kneels down to pose for a quick shot with man’s best friend.

EDINBURG, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol agents in the Rio Grande Valley Sector disrupted three narcotic smuggling attempts over the past few days.

On Sunday, agents working near La Paloma, Texas, detected an illegal entry in the form of multiple shoe prints heading north from the U.S. riverbank. Agents followed the prints and observed two subjects’ carrying bundles of narcotics in a canal, walking toward Highway 281. Responding agents arrested the two subjects and recovered two abandoned bundles of marijuana. The marijuana weighed over 90 pounds and is worth an estimated $75K. Cameron County Sheriff's Office took custody of both subjects and narcotics.

KEESLER AIR FORCE BASE, Miss. (AFNS) -- The 53rd Weather Reconnaissance Squadron, aka Air Force Reserve “Hurricane Hunters,” based out of Keesler Air Force Base is the only Air Force unit tasked with the mission of collecting data from the inside of a storm and flying into the eye of hurricanes.

This specialized unit of Reserve Airmen is made up of a five-person crew consisting of a pilot, co-pilot, navigator, aerial reconnaissance weather officer and loadmaster who is also the dropsonde operator.
