Mother Nature and her last two storms were certainly among the big news last week. If you checked our last issue, the lake levels at Roosevelt were at 2100.30 feet on December 3. On Tuesday, December 11, Rosy was 52% full at an elevation of 2,106.54 and on December 12, Rosy's was at 53% with an elevation of 2,107.33. The lake rose a foot in one day and the Schoolhouse boat ramp went from -3 feet on Tuesday to -2 feet on Wednesday. As of Saturday, December 15, 2007, Roosevelt Lake was 54% full with an elevation of 2108.54. Rosy has come up approximately 8 feet since December 3. The Schoolhouse boat ramp was at minus nine feet on December 3, and as of December 17, was at minus one with the water still rising. Pinto Creek, a typically dry wash through Roosevelt, has also been flowing in recent weeks.

There's been talk among the weather folks that another storm is headed our way with a possibility of more rain and snow in the high country beginning on Friday. Keep doing those rain and snow dances adding to a wonderful 2008 with a full Roosevelt Lake.

Speaking of weather, we've included some highlights of temperatures, precipitation and drought statistics, and significant climate events of 2007 from the National Climate Data Center in this issue beginning on page 16.

Another year is almost here as we head into our eleventh year with this publication. We wish each and every one of you a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year.

Until next issue and next year . . . take care.   back...
