What a weekend it was! The NFL playoffs leading to Superbowl XLII on Sunday, February 3 in Glendale, Arizona promise even more excitement.

On Saturday, January 12, the New England Patriots beat the Jacksonville Jaguars 31-20 at Gillette Stadium while the Green Bay Packers soundly trounced the Seattle Seahawks at Lambeau Field 42-20 in a game that started out with clear weather and ended with near whiteout conditions.

Sunday's two playoff games disappointed fans of both favored teams as the NY Giants beat the Dallas Cowboys 21-17 and the Indianapolis Colts lost to the San Diego Chargers 28-24.

Arizona is expected to see a surge of 500,000 people as it hosts the Superbowl, and the FBR Open (formerly Phoenix Open Golf Tournament) which takes place from January 28 through February 3 at the TPC Scottsdale for the "73rd playing of the Open, and the fifth as the FBR Open."

If sports isn't your bag, there are certainly numerous other events happening throughout the valley including the Scottsdale Waterfront at Stetson Canal, which will be "transformed into a mini Las Vegas Strip, featuring art displays, fashion shows, DJs, a fireworks display and sports and celebrity meet and greets."

On Friday and Saturday, February 1 and 2, from 10 a.m.-10 p.m., Glendale will tantalize taste buds with a "Chocolate Affaire," complete with gourmet cuisine, horse drawn carriage rides, national entertainment and tours of the Cerreta Candy Company.

Until next issue, with all these events taking place around Superbowl Sunday, who has time for boredom? Enjoy!   back...
