Glee Choreographer Zach Woodlee to Lead Participants in New All-Star Dance
Major League Baseball today announced the creation of a new All-Star Summer event, the All-Star Charity Dance-A-Thon, which will take place on Saturday, July 9, 2011 at the Phoenix Convention Center. All event-related net proceeds will be donated equally to three charities supporting cancer research and education -- the Prostate Cancer Foundation, Stand Up To Cancer and Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
Glees very own acclaimed choreographer, Zach Woodlee, will lead the crowd in coordinated and spontaneous dance moves. He and other VIP guests will also serve as judges for a soon-to-be announced contest that will be open to Dance-A-Thon attendees. The grand prize winner of the contest will win an exclusive meet-and-greet opportunity on the set of Glee.
Woodlee hails from Texas where he was inspired by his dancer mother to pursue a career in dance. Currently the choreographer for the smash Fox hit, Glee, Woodlee has lent his talents to several tours, television shows and blockbuster films including Madonnas Re-Invention Tour, Life As We Know It, Eat Pray Love, Hairspray, Step Up and more.
"The All-Star Charity Dance-A-Thon will give our fans a new opportunity to take away a lasting All-Star memory. If fans don't have a ticket to the ballpark, they can still be a part of the 2011 All-Star experience," said Tim Brosnan, Major League Baseball Executive Vice President, Business. MLB has maintained an ongoing effort to raise funds and awareness to fight all forms of cancer and this event will let our fans join the cause."
Participants in the All-Star Charity Dance-A-Thon will be grooving to an eclectic mix of music throughout the nine hour event which will take place from 3 p.m. to midnight. Participants who sign up by July 1 will receive a discounted price of $15 (adult) and $10 (14 and under). Space is limited so participants are encouraged to sign-up early. Registration and additional event information is available at allstargame.com.
For the third consecutive year, Major League Baseball has united these three charities in the fight against cancer during All-Star Week. The previous two All-Star Week festivities included the All-Star Game Charity 5K & Fun Run presented by Sports Authority and Nike in which participants ran and walked on a baseball-themed course featuring appearances by MLB legends, mascots and celebrity guests.

About Stand Up To Cancer
Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C) was established in 2008 by leaders from the film and media industries who utilize the resources of those businesses in unique ways to get the public involved in supporting a new model of cancer research. The group produced two major televised events, in 2008 and 2010, that raised funds for teams of scientists collaborating on research that will get new therapies to patients quickly in order to save lives now. More than 100 celebrities participated in each program, conveying how cancer connects us all, and telling the stories both of people who survived the disease, as well as those taken by it. All of the major U.S. TV networks donated airtime for the broadcasts, which ran in more than 195 countries and raised millions of dollars for research. The American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) and the SU2C Scientific Advisory Committee led by Nobel Laureate Phillip A. Sharp, Ph.D. selected five Dream Teams of researchers to be funded with these monies through a rigorous, competitive process. SU2C has also awarded grants to 26 individual young scientists conducting high-risk, high-reward research. More than 200 scientists from 50 institutions around the world are currently involved in SU2C research projects.
