Metrocenter Mall is hosting a classic car show from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, April 6, in the southeast parking lot, across from Castles-n-Coasters. Classic cars, trucks, motorcycles and police command units are expected to be on display at this special show, benefitting local food banks through a canned food drive. Metrocenter Mall is located on the west side of I-17, south of Peoria Avenue, with a main entrance at Peoria Avenue and 28th Drive. The city of Phoenix Police Department will be on hand for free Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) etching, a protection measure against vehicle theft, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Admission to the car show is free for spectators, with a suggested donation of one can or box of food. For those who display classic vehicles at the show, admission is a suggested donation of $10 plus a can of food. Discount coupons for local businesses will be available for those who attend and there will be special prize drawings throughout the afternoon. First- and second-place plaques will be awarded to vehicle winners in several classes and commemorative dash plaques will be provided for vehicle exhibitors, while supplies last. Following the event, local hot air balloon enthusiasts will display their unique balloons for all to enjoy. A Balloon Glow will begin around dusk.
