World of Illumination Holiday Light Show

Holiday light splendor is in store for those who go on the senior center’s trip to the World of Illumination at Tempe Diablo Stadium on Wednesday, December 4th. The fee is only $15 per person to see a “…symphony of sight and sound at the world’s longest drive-through holiday light spectacular.” The van will leave the Dorothy Nolan Senior Center at 3:30 p.m. to enjoy this unique holiday experience. Aquatics Job Fair – Summer Positions

Those interested in employment opportunities for next summer at the Florence Aquatic Center, should attend the Aquatics Job Fair on Tuesday, December 10th from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the Florence Library and Community Center. This event will discuss the opportunities available as well as job expectations. The department also needs junior lifeguards, ages 12 to 15 years old. Applications for working the 2020 summer swim season will be accepted. The community center is located at 778 N. Main Street. Historic Lecture – Honky Tonks, Brothels & Mining Camps: Entertainment in Old Arizona

The next in a series of lectures from AZ Humanities, is on Tuesday, December 10th at 6:00 p.m. in the Library and Community Center. The presentation titled, Honky Tonks, Brothels and Mining Camps: Entertainment in Old Arizona is part of AZ Speaks and AZ Humanities. During Arizona’s pioneer days, the performing arts were often only found in mining towns. Lucky miners who were fortunate to reap riches from their claims, often spent disposal income on various pursuits including opera, orchestras, plays and brothels. Jay Cravath, Ph.D., is the presenter at this free event and is a writer and composer in music. His presentations are a mixture of story, slides and song creating a unique and entertaining presentation. The Community Center is located at 778 N. Main Street.
