It's time to start doing those rain dances again. Evidently several folks in Globe danced over the weekend, because an abundance of water fell in a very short period of time.

However, thanks (or not) to the surrounding mountains, the storm simply teased Roosevelt with its dark clouds and wind, leaving its moisture on the other side.

Temperatures in recent weeks have hit the 116 mark and yesterday's high was forecast to be 114 and sunny in Phoenix. We're waiting for those dew points to remain at 55 or higher for three consecutive days.

Fire danger has been high - On July 8, 2007, there were 38 new fires in Arizona. During that period, there were over 15,300 personnel assigned to wildfires nation. Thankfully, nothing has come close to Roosevelt - please, lets be careful and keep it that way.

We really need the rain - so whatever works, start doing it!! Remember all that water Roosevelt had in 2005? While it was considerably more than we needed, it would be nice to take those same two storms and have them park over Roosevelt Lake - rather than the community.

Speaking of the lake, weekend traffic seems to have increased significantly over this same time last year. Perhaps more people are discovering all that our sleepy little community has to offer - great eating - atmosphere - friendly folks - close proximity to a fabulous recreation area and incredibly awesome views to boot!!

If you're just driving through and have picked up this publication for the first time, welcome! If you're a regular visitor to the area - we're always glad to see you. If you're lucky enough to live here full time, count your blessings. As Dorothy said, "There's no place like home." Until next issue . . . take care.   back...
