CALL TO ACTION: Vessels planning to be in the area should execute avoidance plans.
Strong low pressure (984 mb as of 12 UTC) will continue to move away from the waters today with some lingering gales moving E of the southern waters by this afternoon. If traveling E of 65W, hurricane-force winds will be possible this afternoon into tonight as the low continues to strengthen.
● Looking ahead, the next strong storm system exits the east coast of the U.S. on Sat spreading gale-force winds initially along the southeast coast and offshore waters, then quickly expanding N up to the mid-Atlantic waters.
● Storm-force winds up to 55 kt will develop late Sat from just off of the Delmarva SE to the waters E of the Carolinas in strong NW flow. There is medium-high confidence in these conditions occurring over the mid-Atlantic to southern waters through Sat night.
● Wind gusts in the area of storm-force winds will frequently hit 65-70 kt! Higher gusts are also possible in or near any fast moving thunderstorms in the cold air mass behind the initial front.
● Hurricane-force winds are possible, but they are expected to remain E of the waters, well S of Nova Scotia and Newfoundland
