Dr. Paul Overcomes Democrat Obstruction to Fund the Border Patrol

Under my leadership as Chairman of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, we successfully advanced critical funding out of my committee by an 8-5 vote. This measure provides essential funding for the Border Patrol and other law enforcement agents of the Department of Homeland Security. Senate Democrats blocked all funding for the Border Patrol and ICE in the regular budget process. I am proud we took decisive action. This bill supports President Trump’s bold agenda for strong border security. It equips our law enforcement professionals to do their jobs—removing criminal illegal aliens, stopping the flow of drugs like fentanyl, and interdicting child sex trafficking. As long as I chair this committee, I will not let Senate Democrats block paychecks for our Border Patrol agents or prevent us from delivering on President Trump’s promise to secure our borders.
